Bloomin’ PGC Urban Farming Initiative

What Is the Bloomin’ PGC Urban Farming Initiative?

Bloomin’ PGC is an initiative launched in 2016 by the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council in partnership with the Prince George’s Soil Conservation District, the University of Maryland Extension in Prince George’s County, and ECO City Farms. Since then, the Department of the Environment, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Department of Social Services Office of Food Security, and The Capital Market of 20743 have joined the Bloomin’ PGC Partnership to support the growing urban agriculture movement in Prince George’s County.

Check out BloominPGC.com for resources on:

  • Business Planning & Marketing
  • Cultivation & Land-use Practices
  • Education & Training
  • Legislation & Regulations

In addition, there are a variety of conservation and farm planning resources on our “Resources” page. There are additional resources for community gardens here.

How Do I Join the Bloomin’ PGC Community?

If you are interested in networking and sharing resources with other urban farmers, join our Google group! Please send an email request to bloomin-pgc+subscribe@googlegroups.com and/or Kim Rush Lynch to join. Google will send you an email letting you know that they received your request. Reply to the email and type “join” or “subscribe.” You will then get a confirmation email. If you have any issues, please let us know, and we can add you directly. We also have a Facebook Group and co-host regular Open Mic Nights (since 2020?!) with urban farmer, Linda Jones of Elements of Nature, and other partners to network and support each other’s enterprises. Check our calendar for details!
