Open Mic Night – September 2025

September 23 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Attention: Farmers and Growers!

It’s that time of year again when dig back into our next season of Open Mic Nights. We’re kicking of the season with Gale Livingstone of Deep Roots Farm in Upper Marlboro. Save the date of October 21 for a Nutrient Management Planning workshop for urban farms.

This month, join us at Deep Roots Farm, where Farmer Gale Livingstone will share her composting operation and the importance of compost for building soil health and reducing expensive inputs. We’ll take a tour of her farm and learn how she’s used state and federal conservation financial assistance programs to further her conservation goals and build infrastructure on the farm. Deep Roots Farm is a regenerative, black woman-owned and operated farm located in Upper Marlboro, MD. Gale grows vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers, and raises chickens on 53 acres for the community. We’ll also hear updates on federal financial assistance programs for conservation practices from our friends at USDA NRCS.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please refer to your confirmation email for exact address and additional instructions. If the event is sold out, please email us at karlynch@pgcmd.gov or 301.574.5162 x3 so that we may add your name to the waiting list.
